Following the 2008 Denver gem and mineral show, I drove east out of Colorado and met up with Steve Arnold about an hour west of Wichita, Kansas. We had five field days scheduled, of which the last two would be filmed by the Discovery Channel crew. To improve our odds of finding something during the shoot, we spent the first three days in the last section of unhunted land available to us. We covered a lot of distance off-road.
