A Rare 1-Kilogram Presence: The Pristine Tamdakht Individual
This 1-kilogram individual of the Tamdakht meteorite is a substantial and rare representative of the 2008 Moroccan fall. Possessing a nearly complete, velvet-black fusion crust, this stone captures the precise moment the extraterrestrial iron and silicate were transformed by the heat of entry. The stark white interior is a great contrast, shattering the delicate crust upon its collision to Earth.
While smaller fragments are more common, a specimen of this scale is seldom seen on the market, as most major masses were quickly placed into permanent collections. The stone’s weight and sculptural geometry offer a grounded, humble presence, allowing one to feel the literal mass of a traveler that once drifted through the silence of the asteroid belt before coming to rest in the Atlas Mountains.
