Description
Actual star dust from outer space! This quaint glass vial with metal lid contains genuine Gibeon meteorite. Iron meteorites are an alloy of iron and nickel and likely come to us from large asteroids with molten cores that once orbited the sun between Mars and Jupiter. Catastrophic collisions within the Asteroid Belt shattered some asteroids, sending pieces in all directions. Some of those pieces eventually encountered Earth’s gravitational pull, resulting in a fiery journey through our atmosphere at speeds up to 100,000 miles per hour.
The Gibeon meteorite was first recorded by a British explorer in 1838 and the fall occurred thousands of years ago in Namibia, Africa. A very desirable and collectible item that would make an out-of-this-world gift!
