IIAB iron meteorites offer scientists unique insight into the crystallization history of asteroidal cores–they are the largest magmatic iron meteorite group. Typically, these iron meteorites are dominantly composed of nickel-iron metal and are thought to be crystallized from a melt. The minerals these meteorites are composed of offer clues about the processes that took place when these asteroidal cores formed.
