Description
Dar al Gani 340 is a relatively unshocked achondrite-ureilite, found in Al Jufrah, Libya. Only one small 591 gram mass was discovered.
Achondrites are stony meteorites without chondrules that originated on a differentiated parent body. Ureilites are meteorites with a high percentage of carbon which takes the form of graphite and nano diamonds. Diamonds form under pressure; the diamonds present in these meteorites are likely the result of high pressure shockwaves produced when the asteroid from which this meteorite originated from, collided with another asteroid.
